How to add products in your Shopify admin panel
In this article we will give you some guidelines on where you can add a new product to Shopify, whether it’s a simple product or one with variants, and some information to understand where manage the stock.
Let’s take a look at how to manage new products in Shopify to streamline and improve your store’s daily operations!
Access and Navigation
First of all, you’ll need to have a Shopify store.

Once you’ve logged in your Shopify Admin area, go to the “Products” section located in the left-hand sidebar. Here you will see all the products currently uploaded to your e-commerce. If there are not products yet, or if you want to add a new one, you can just click the “Add Product” button on the page.
Simple and variant products, inventory management
Once you click on ‘Add Product’, Shopify will display a screen with the fields you need to fill in for the new product.
Creating a new product requires entering its relevant information. Here are some of the details you’ll need to provide:
- title – the name of the product
- description – the field where you can enter the product’s details
- media – allows you to add content such as images
- price – is the product’s selling price
- inventory – refers to the quantity of the product available in stock
- weight and dimensions – are required if the product needs to be shipped, as they are used to calculate shipping costs
- variant section – is where you can set up product variations, such as size and/or color.

In the inventory section you can, for example:
- view stock levels
- edit quantity
- assign inventory to different locations
- track incoming and committed stock
- import and export inventory via CSV
Additionally, you can organize the product by assigning it to an existing or a new Collection.
You can add also associate tags and manage search engine optimization (SEO) by editing the product information in the dedicated SEO section.
After that, you can save the product.
Then, you’ll need to publish it to make it visible in your e-commerce!
