How to set up shipping and taxes in your Shopify Admin Panel

The correct configuration of shipping and taxes in an e-commerce store is essential, as it ensures that customers browsing the shop experience a reliable purchasing process that complies with legal requirements.

Let’s explore how to set up and manage shipping and tax settings in Shopify to optimize and improve the store’s daily operations.

    Access and Navigation

First of all, you’ll need to have a Shopify store.

    • Taxes and Duties

    Shipping Configuration

In your Shopify Admin area, go to the “Settings” section and then select “Shipping and Delivery”.

You can create Shopify shipping profiles, which allow you to set shipping rates based on products and geographic regions. You may either use the general shipping profile (default), or create custom profiles for specific products or geographic regions.
You can add shipping zones, which are groups of countries or geographic areas created to indicate where you ship, how much shipping costs.
You may also add shipping rates, such as flat rates (a single fixed price), carrier-calculated rates (if you use a courier service integrated with Shopify), free shipping (for example, during promotions or for orders above a certain threshold), etc.
Optionally, you can also enable local pickup or local delivery.
You can configure packages for carrier rate calculations or shipping labels: by adding the dimensions and weight of your standard packages, Shopify will use this data to estimate costs and rates.
