A real-time activity of your online store
To monitor current visitors and store activity in real time, including where visitors are coming from and their sessions, Shopify offers a dashboard called “Live View”.
Why use Live View?
This dashboard is especially useful during some stages of your store life cycle
- The launch of a new product
- The launch of promotions and/or discounts
- During certain periods such as Black Friday or Cyber Monday
- During the running of ADS
Live View uses 2D map and 3D globe to display where visitors and orders are coming from and some key metrics to let you know what’s happening in the store right now.
KEY METRICS ON LIVE VIEW
The key metrics displayed on Live View are many. Some of theme are:
- Total sales, sessions, orders
- Active visitors on the store: it counts the visitors of the store who interacting with it (i.e. view a page or click a button) in the past five minutes
- Active carts: it tells the number of sessions with one or more items in the cart in the last ten minutes
- Checkout activity: it tells how many sessions have progressed from adding products to the cart to the checkout and submitted their contact information in the last ten minutes
- Purchased: it tells the number of sessions have progressed from shopping carts, proceeded to the checkout and purchased the items
- Top locations: it tells the geographic area with most visitors of the store are

Access and Navigation
First of all, you’ll need to have a Shopify store.
Once you’ve logged in to your Shopify Admin area, go to the “Analytics” section located in the left-hand sidebar and then select “Live View”.
